The ingredients needed to make Rava dhokla:
- Take 1 cup rava / bombay rava / semolina / sooji
- Get 1 cup thick curd / yogurt, slightly sour
- Take 1/2 tsp sugar
- Make ready 1 tsp ginger / adrak, grated
- Prepare 1 tsp chilli paste
- Get 2 tsp oil
- Prepare to taste salt
- Take 1/4 cup water, or as required
- Make ready 1 tsp eno fruit salt or ¾ tsp baking soda

- Make ready 1/2 tsp jeera / cumin seeds

- Prepare pinch hing / asafoetida
- Make ready 10/12 curry leaves
- Get 2 green chilli, slit
- Make ready 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
Quick video, step wise pictures post. I thought rava dhokla to be same as rava idli and did not want to try it out. Today thought of giving it a try (adapted from here) as it is easy and was wanting to post something in blog. It turned out delicious than I expected.
Instructions to make Rava dhokla:
- Firstly, in a large mixing bowl take rava and curd.additionally add sugar, ginger, chilli paste and salt.mix well to form a thick batter. - rest for 30 minutes or till rava absorbs moisture.further add water as required and mix well.
- Get the dhokla to idli batter consistency.additionally add eno fruit salt.mix gently till the batter turns frothy.transfer to the greased plate.
- Steam the dhokla batter for 12 minutes.prepare the tempering by heating oil.further add mustard seeds, jeera, sesame seeds and hing.
- Once the mustard seeds splutter add in curry leaves and green chilli. saute for a while and once the tempering splutters spread the tempering over dhokla.
- Also sprinkle coriander leaves.and cut the dhokla to desired shape. finally serve soft and spongy rava dhokla with green chutney.

This is a healthy snack as it is steamed and very less oil is used to make tempering. You can serve it as a snack or weekend breakfast.
