The ingredients needed to make Rava dhokla:
  1. Take 1 cup rava / bombay rava / semolina / sooji
  2. Get 1 cup thick curd / yogurt, slightly sour
  3. Take 1/2 tsp sugar
  4. Make ready 1 tsp ginger / adrak, grated
  5. Prepare 1 tsp chilli paste
  6. Get 2 tsp oil
  7. Prepare to taste salt
  8. Take 1/4 cup water, or as required
  9. Make ready 1 tsp eno fruit salt or ¾ tsp baking soda
  10. Take 2 tsp oil
  11. Get 1 tsp mustard seeds / rai
  12. Make ready 1/2 tsp jeera / cumin seeds
  13. Get 1/2 tsp sesame seeds / til
  14. Prepare pinch hing / asafoetida
  15. Make ready 10/12 curry leaves
  16. Get 2 green chilli, slit
  17. Make ready 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped

Quick video, step wise pictures post. I thought rava dhokla to be same as rava idli and did not want to try it out. Today thought of giving it a try (adapted from here) as it is easy and was wanting to post something in blog. It turned out delicious than I expected.

Instructions to make Rava dhokla:
  1. Firstly, in a large mixing bowl take rava and curd.additionally add sugar, ginger, chilli paste and salt.mix well to form a thick batter. - rest for 30 minutes or till rava absorbs moisture.further add water as required and mix well.
  2. Get the dhokla to idli batter consistency.additionally add eno fruit salt.mix gently till the batter turns frothy.transfer to the greased plate.
  3. Steam the dhokla batter for 12 minutes.prepare the tempering by heating oil.further add mustard seeds, jeera, sesame seeds and hing.
  4. Once the mustard seeds splutter add in curry leaves and green chilli. saute for a while and once the tempering splutters spread the tempering over dhokla.
  5. Also sprinkle coriander leaves.and cut the dhokla to desired shape. finally serve soft and spongy rava dhokla with green chutney.

Today thought of giving it a try (adapted from here) as it is easy and was wanting to post something in blog. It turned out delicious than I expected. This rava dhokla has soft and fluffy texture. This is a healthy snack as it is steamed and very less oil is used to make tempering. You can serve it as a snack or weekend breakfast.
