The ingredients needed to make Fish in raw mango curry:
- Prepare 500 gm baasa/ aar/ prawns / rohu
- Prepare 1 raw mango diced
- Prepare 200 ml coconut milk
- Prepare 1 onion
- Get 1 tomato
- Prepare 7-8 garlic cloves
- Get 2 inch ginger
- Get 1/2 tsp methi daana(fenugreek seeds)
- Prepare 1 tablespoon paprika
- Prepare 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder

- Prepare 3-4 green chillies
Fish cooked with spices and simmered in coconut milk and flavored with raw mango. I love the combination of the sourness from raw mango, sweetness from the coconut milk and the spiciness from chili powder. Add Raw Mango slices to the above and allow it to cook. Add Fish Slices, Salt and cook for few more minutes.
Steps to make Fish in raw mango curry:
- Wash and marinate the fish in turmeric and salt.
- Fry the fish in some oil and keep aside
- Make a paste of the onion, ginger, garlic, tomato and chillies
- Add the methi, paste and masalas (turmeric, paprika and dhaniya powder) to the pan and sautΓ© till it releases oil.
- Add the diced raw mango, followed by the coconut milk.
- Let it simmer till the mangoes are half cooked. Add the fried fish thereafter.
- Let it simmer for 5 minutes. Add salt and a teaspoon of sugar to balance out the taste. Ready!!!
Add Raw Mango slices to the above and allow it to cook. Add Fish Slices, Salt and cook for few more minutes. Tempering the Curry in coconut oil enhances the taste, can use any. Goans eat fish curry along with rice, fried fish and a vegetable almost every day. No lunch meal is complete without the Goan Curry and rice.
