- Prepare 4 medium size Rohu fish cut into pieces
- Prepare 8-10 tablespoons Curd
- Prepare 1small onion
- Take to taste Salt
- Take 1 tsp Turmeric
- Take 1 dry red chilli
- Take 2 cloves
- Take 1 cardamom
- Make ready 1small piece cinnamon
- Get to taste Sugar
Add this paste, green chilies, bay leaf, salt and sugar to the beaten curd. Add the soaked fish pieces one by one and turning them over after a few seconds. Add salt and turmeric powder to fish pieces. Now mix curd and chopped green chillies.
Steps to make Dahi Machh (fish curry with curd):
- Marinate the fish with salt and turmeric and keep it for half an hour
- Once The fish is marinated, heat oil in a pan and fry the fish pieces. Once fried, keep these pieces aside for now
- Grate onion
- Beat curd very very well
- Now heat some oil in a pan and add cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and the dry red chilli in it
- Add grated onion and cook until light brown
- Add curd and stir until it’s cooked. Now add little sugar - just sprinkle a little.
- Once the curry is cooked, add fried fish pieces one by one gently and cook for another 2-3 minutes and your fish curry is ready to serve
Add salt and turmeric powder to fish pieces. Now mix curd and chopped green chillies. Put it over medium flame till it gets cooked properly. Serve Dahi Mach hot with rice. Thick, meaty fish like mahimahi works best in this doi maach recipe.
